Why Have A House Cleaning List?
Why would anyone need a house cleaning list? After all, we know the house needs cleaned, so why put it on a
list? There are many reasons for having a house cleaning list, but one of the biggest is that it will save you time
and effort.
A systematic approach to keeping your home clean every week helps you know exactly what needs to be done, and
what doesn't. This is where a list excels.
Getting Started
When designing your checklist I would suggest sitting down and writing out everything you want to include in
cleaning your home top to bottom. You can create your list on your computer and save it. Then, print off a copy to
use for that particular week.
Next, you can prioritize your list to include tasks you want to do for that week. So, if you have marked down
"clean cobwebs", you don't have to include that every week.
What's great with this type of house cleaning checklist is that it guides you in staying focused and not
cleaning areas you don't need.
Another thing you may want to include on your list is the approximate time it takes to do a particular task.
That can help in prioritizing your time.
What To Include
Besides the basic tasks, your household cleaning list should also have the date, approximate cleaning times and
the actual time spent on each task.
You could also include a cleaning product list as well. This lets you see at a glance what supplies you'll need
for any given task.
Each category such as kitchen, bathroom, etc, can be broken down into sub-categories.
As you can see, it will only require a little time and planning to come up with your outline, but once you've
done that it's all downhill from there.
I'm a big advocate of using lists for things like this. A house cleaning list just makes sense and can really
save a lot of time and effort on your part.
